12-Day Handwriting Improvement Curriculum

Day 1: Introduction & Instructions ( demo lecture )

• Correct sitting posture and pencil/pen grip.

• Importance of neatness, speed, and consistency.

• Basic do’s & don’ts for writing.

Day 2 & Day 3: Strokes and Patterns

• Basic strokes: straight lines, curves, loops, zig-zags, waves.

• Circles, spirals, slants.

• Pattern worksheets for motor skill development.

• Fun activity: tracing in air/sand/notebook.

Day 4 & Day 5: Small Letters (Lowercase)

• Group 1 (round letters): a, c, o, e, g, q

• Group 2 (straight letters): i, l, t, u

• Group 3 (mixed): n, m, r, v, w

• Emphasis on uniform size and spacing

Day 6 & Day 7: Tall Letters (Ascenders)

• Letters that go upward: b, d, h, k, l, t.

• Drills for tall letters + words: bat, hat, hill.

• Common mistakes (uneven height, spacing).

Day 8 & Day 9: Fall Letters (Descenders)

• Letters that go downward: g, j, p, q, y, f, z.

• Drills with correct tail length + words: jug, play, queen.

• Worksheet: joining tall + fall letters together.

Day 10: Joining Letters (Cursive Basics)

• Simple connections: o–n, a–m, c–a.

• Practice small words in cursive.

• Focus on flow & rhythm.

Day 11: Words, Sentences, and Numbers

• Words: 3–4 letter words → “cat”, “sun”, “play”.

• Sentences: “I love my school.” “The cat ran fast.”

• Numbers: 1–20 → correct size, spacing, and alignment.

• Practice writing numbers in sequences and simple math sums (optional).

Day 12: Speed Writing + Test + Appreciation

• Timed writing exercise (copy a paragraph in 5 minutes).

• Compare Day 1 vs Day 12 handwriting.

• Test: words, sentences, numbers, paragraph.

• Award Appreciation Certificate.

• Collect feedback from parents/students.
